Controls

All keyboard and mouse controls for the cinematics editor — recording, free-fly camera positioning, timeline playback, and editor shortcuts.

INFO

Editor shortcuts only fire when no <input>, <select>, or <textarea> is focused — so typing into a name field never triggers Play, Delete, or Undo.

In-Game Recording

BACKSPACE
Stop & Save Recording

Stops the active vehicle/ped recording and saves the take to the current project. Configurable via Config.RecordingStopKey — only active while a recording is running. Same as /cinematics stop.

Position Camera (Free-Fly)

When you click Position Camera on a keyframe, the editor closes and you take control of a free-fly camera. Use these keys to frame the shot.

W A S D
Move Horizontally

Fly the camera forward, left, back, and right relative to where it's currently looking.

SPACE
Move Up

Lift the camera straight up along the world Z-axis.

CTRL
Move Down

Drop the camera straight down along the world Z-axis.

SHIFT
Fast Move & Fast Look

Hold to multiply movement speed and mouse-look sensitivity. Useful for travelling long distances or scouting before fine framing.

MOUSE
Look Around

Move the mouse to pitch and yaw the camera. Sensitivity scales with SHIFT.

SCROLL
Adjust FOV

Scroll the mouse wheel up to zoom in (lower FOV) or down to zoom out (higher FOV). The FOV value is saved with the keyframe.

ENTER
Save Camera Position

Locks in the current camera position, rotation, and FOV onto the active keyframe and reopens the editor.

ESC
Cancel Positioning

Discards any movement and returns to the editor without modifying the keyframe.

Editor — Clipboard & History

Standard edit shortcuts for the keyframe you've selected on the timeline.

CTRL+Z
Undo

Step backwards through your edit history. Works across keyframe edits, panel changes, deletions, and scene-editor actions.

CTRL+SHIFT+Z
Redo

Step forwards through history after an undo.

CTRL+Y
Redo (alt)

Alternative redo binding for users who prefer the Windows-native shortcut.

CTRL+C
Copy Keyframe

Copies the currently selected keyframe — position, rotation, FOV, and all panel settings — to the clipboard.

CTRL+V
Paste Keyframe

Pastes the copied keyframe at the playhead position. Useful for repeating a held shot or reusing a framing across scenes.

CTRL+D
Duplicate Keyframe

Clones the selected keyframe in place. Quick way to lock a held pose before drifting the camera.

DELETE
Delete Selected Keyframe

Removes the currently selected keyframe from the timeline. Undo restores it.

Editor — Playback & Timeline

Premiere-style transport keys. With the editor focused (and no input field selected), these scrub the timeline and drive playback.

SPACE
Play / Stop

Toggle playback from the current playhead position. Same key drives the play button on the timeline.

HOME
Jump to Start

Snap the playhead to frame 0.

END
Jump to End

Snap the playhead to the last frame of the project.

Step Back 1 Frame

Move the playhead one frame to the left for precise scrubbing.

Step Forward 1 Frame

Move the playhead one frame to the right.

SHIFT+
Jump Back 10 Frames

Larger scrub step — useful for sweeping through a long timeline.

SHIFT+
Jump Forward 10 Frames

Larger scrub step in the forward direction.

J
Shuttle Back

Premiere-style shuttle — jumps the playhead back 10 frames. Pair with K and L for fast scrub-and-stop editing.

K
Shuttle Stop

Stops playback if it's running. Premiere-style shuttle key.

L
Shuttle Play

Starts playback if it isn't already running. Premiere-style shuttle key.

I
Set In Point

Marks the current playhead position as the playback in-point. Playback will start from here.

O
Set Out Point

Marks the current playhead position as the playback out-point. Playback will stop here.

Editor — Keyframe Nudging & Zoom

[
Nudge Keyframe Back

Shift the selected keyframe one frame earlier on the timeline. Hold to repeat-step.

]
Nudge Keyframe Forward

Shift the selected keyframe one frame later on the timeline.

+ / =
Zoom In Timeline

Increase timeline zoom by 20% per press, up to 20×. Makes fine keyframe placement easier on long projects.

-
Zoom Out Timeline

Decrease timeline zoom by 20% per press, down to 0.3×. Pull back to see the whole project at once.

Editor — Misc

ESC
Close Editor / Browser

Closes the editor UI. If the model browser is open, ESC closes the browser first instead of the editor.

ENTER
Confirm Dialog

Confirms the active prompt or model-swap dialog. ESC cancels the same dialog.
